Hey mate,

Yesterday, I was asked exactly what we do all weekend in Scout Camp – The Native Eyes Weekend.

“How can I explain it. The Native Eyes weekend is simple, yet magical.”

We explore four key skills I learned from Native American elders.

Fire by Friction.

Advanced Awareness.

Invisible Movement.

Tracking.

Those ancient skills give you survival skills, and transformational opportunities.

Fire by friction: Making fire with this ancient method exposes hidden beliefs, thought processes, and attitudes that “put out” your inner spark.

Advanced Awareness: As we explore how to become much more aware, you’ll notice how most people walk around like zombies. Increased happiness and energy result from exploring how to be more alive and aware. Let’s face it, if all your food comes from grocery stores, you don’t have to be all that aware to survive. The more aware you become the more alive you feel. It’s like being a kid again!

Invisible Movement: It’s not about becoming “sneaky” in the woods, it’s about learning how to move invisibly in FLOW and HARMONY. This ancient skill set carries over into your entire life. Imagine more FLOW and HARMONY. Nuff said.

Tracking: The tracking mindset teaches you to notice the stories that are left behind, all around you, all the time. Life becomes an endless adventure, full of opportunities and play.

Hey mate,

We were a small group, of very interesting people. Walking into the woods with a man who looked like an older brother, maybe a “young uncle”. There was something about him that was special. Something we were all here to learn about and experience more of.

Looking back, that weekend felt like I was finally coming home. I told most of my friends I was going to a seminar, but that seminar turned out to be something very special that would continue transforming my life in many subtle and powerful ways.

“Since that weekend, I see more and more with my Native Eyes every day. I find myself living with a growing and deepening sense of purpose, enjoying a feeling of loving power, a gentle knowing that I am always in the perfect place, at the perfect time.”

The primitive skills I have learned are practical. Yet have transformed my entire life. They have awakened a dormant wisdom within. A wisdom that is ancient, primal and comes straight from the heart. It touches everyone I meet.

I have learned how to make fire by friction, track subtle signs and footprints most would never see. I can move invisibly like a whisper in the woods, knowing what plants make powerful medicine or can be eaten safely as delicious food.

I learned these skills knowing they would help me to SURVIVE. I never would have imagined how they have expanded my experience of the world of the SPIRIT

I still make fire “the old fashioned way” several times a year. It helps me notice the spark within, and the practice helps me notice the little bits of ego programming that are keeping me out of the flow in other areas of my life too.

During my daily walks I see plants that have become as familiar to me as my friends. Every plant that I can recognize and honor reminds me that we really are divinely provided for. They help me remember to explore and experience the blessings and gifts this world has to offer.

“I have a deeper knowing – that we are all provided for. I have taught my youngest grandchild how to neutralize a bee sting with one of the most common lawn weeds in the world. She knows in a new way, in the INDIAN WAY, that everything we need is always there, we just need to know how to connect with it in harmony.”

It doesn’t matter where I am, on stroll through the park, or at work with my team, the mindset of the tracker reveals to me invisible patterns and amazing stories.

Many people I see have low energy, because they are bored, and can only see “whats on the surface”. With the mindset and eyes of The Tracker, I effortlessly see the amazing of the stories left behind.

I experience a deeper harmony and flow – in new ways every day. My ability to move effortlessly and invisibly through a crowd or in the deep woods amazes me. My advanced awareness helps me spot both trouble and opportunity early on. My whole world has transformed, and keeps growing more and more amazing, right before my native eyes.

Simon attended Scout Camp – Native Eyes Weekend #4 in June of 2009.

He managed to put into words, what I never have. Thanks Simon!

Monday, June 29, 2009

Scout Simon’s post Camp Letter.

It’s been a week since I have come back form an amazing Native Eyes weekend and wow.

There are a few things we get to do in life, a few things we get to experience that have such a gravity to them that we are never the same once we do it.

Scout Camp with Mr. Twenty Twenty is one of those experiences.

You’re so well looked after by Mr. Twenty Twenty and his beautiful wife Carol. The food is amazing the accommodation fantastic. Add that to the absolute caring detail and personal attention you get in every moment (and I really do mean every moment) that has to be experienced to be believed.

So it’s easy to put into words these qualities and the activities that you get to experience, like making fire by friction, animal tracking skills, becoming invisible and all the other good stuff that you get to do. All of these things are great fun and change something quite profound and obvious inside you. Gaining basic survival skills and the knowledge that you are completely capable of looking after yourself from what surrounds you all the time, seems to take the pressure off in very day life making everything you do easier.

Yeah, yeah, that’s all a gimme ….

What’s not easy to put into words is the connections you get to make, to nature, to people, yourself, to everything. It’s like driving around at 5mph with a misted up windscreen and then someone comes along and shows you how to use the de-mister. The view clears up and changes completely. Not only that, they then show you that there are other directions that you can take and discover, ways that you never thought possible. And to cap it off you are invite to step out of the car and explore the potential that exists around you.

The beauty in this, is that you are guided, step by step to do this by yourself, in your very own personal way, it’s not done for you (and that’s a big golden point). This is where one of Twenty Twenty’s incredibly unique gift comes into play. He tracks you (part of the skill set you get to learn and play with), in real time through all of the events that unfold during the weekend, discovering and noticing the most minute details, the result being that the ripples of the weekends training get transferred into your life, generating amazing potential in your everyday interactions with everything and everyone.

It’s akin to waking up for the very first time, it really does change every thing.

I used to think I could do it on my own, the truth is I could only get part of the way by myself. It’s so much more fun and so much quicker when the path is illuminated and twenty and Carol really shine that light with you.

The Native Eye’s weekend was a surprise gift from my gorgeous partner Megan, and there is nothing that she could have given me in this world that I could have loved more (apart from her of course). And I know she will gain the benefits from me having had this experience for many, many, many years to come. Well to be honest the benefits are already apparent to her. She is blooming with potential too.

Thank you Twenty and Carol for creating such a wonderful and unique adventure in awareness. It takes great courage and care to put something like this together that absolutely everyone can profoundly benefit from. It is an event that I personally think everyone should do. The world would be a better place if we all took a little time to wake up to what is really going on around and inside ourselves and our amazing potential within that.

If anyone wants to contact me to ask about the experience, you are welcome to go ahead and email me at simonbsheridan(at)bigpond.com. <img class="size-full wp-image-126" title="Photo by carol wingert" src="http://wayofthescout.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009_06120012.jpg" alt="Greetings from Native Eyes Weekend!
“Back home to your senses, your honor, your journey, your vision.”

That weekend of experiences, is our The Native Eyes Weekend – The World of the Apache Scout.

You’ll learn four neat Skills – Fire by friction – Tracking – Invisible Movement – Advanced Awareness.

You’ll explore very simple yet powerful ancient wisdom as I learned from the elders.

But more importantly…

You will shift. Transformation. It happens in an instant. It changes you, opens you to new possibility forever.

From participants from prior years, I’ve been told The Native Eyes Weekend takes you out of that chronic “survival” mode most of our culture is so meshed into, so you can really relax and really energize.

I’ve been told that The Native Eyes Weekend opens your mind and heart to your true Inner Vision, so you have more of a sense of purpose, so you feel even more real.

I’ve been told that The Native Eyes Weekend simply unleashes the real you. Can I say anything more?

“Because if you look at the people around you, many of them may seem to be drifting even more out of touch. Out of touch with each other, out of touch with nature, out of touch with their hopes, dreams, and their purpose for being.”

On the other hand, you can go deeper, play more, discover more, and become more. You can get even more in touch with who and what you really are, and discover what else life can really be about.I invite you to join us for The Native Eyes Weekend .

I look forward to seeing you this year!

PS: A letter from Tom G. who was in The Native Eyes Weekend 2007 is below. You can see him in the photo gallery Tom having made fire too!

I was at Scout Camp 11 months ago. (October 2007)

There can be no question that I had one of the most memorable times
and experiences of my life. I still have some cedar wood and tobacco
where I can see them as I work.

It was very, very, very difficult for me to go to and I
knew it was also crucial for me (and for more than me) that I be
there. And I guess that’s why I turned up.

Since then I’ve been growing…so many shifts, and so much more me and
more others in my life. (I cannot even begin to describe… It is not
possible… Don’t you try either…) But my body knows and we all know
here.

Life (us in a touching way) is more extraordinary and real and magical
and human than I ever dreamed, and it was dreams that got me to join
this group and… These days I may even be playing in the space-time
continuum.

I’m Willing you to be at your Native Eyes Weekend with Twenty and Carol. I’m
happy for you who are already signed up, and I’ll have you in mind
during the week-end. I may even make fire.

Tom

Take a moment, take in these two statements, and notice how good they feel.

“Transformation happens in an INSTANT!”

“Awakening happens in the MOMENT!”

I was just chatting on the phone with one of my clients who got what our Native Eyes Weekend – The World of the Apache Scout – is all about. Odd’s are he is coming, I’ll know by the end of the week! Whoo hoo!

This is what he had to say… I’ll be honest, he blew me totally away!

“It’s not about the learning skills, it’s not about exploring the philosphy, it’s not about the stories we take home. Scout Camp is about the Transformation, and the Awakening!”

He is right… I am amazed.

The Skills, Stories, and Philosophy all dynamically set the stage… for those sought after Instants and Moments to show up.

“Transformation happens in an INSTANT!”

“Awakening happens in the MOMENT!”

How many more of those Moments of Awakening, and Instants of Transformation do you want in your life?

(Hint: What you do will reveal your answer, not what you say, it’s in what you choose to do. I chose to spend years chasing down dying elders, who held the keys to ancient wisdom teachings, teachings that would free me from my mediocre life, and the nightmare of Post Traumatic Stress disorder. Your turn..)

I have 3 suggestions…

One is free.

Another will cost you whatever you choose to give.

And the third will blow you away. (It always does. Check out the photos from yesteryear!)

From Twenty Twenty’s Suggestion box

1. Join us on VISION QUEST RADIO – Click here! You can meet me, talk to me live, get to know me before you commit to something more. That’s fair!

Hey mate,

Below are 3 amazing letters sent to our discussion group, by Emmett Pennington, one of the first participants in Scout Camp. I request that you not only read the words, but feel the spirit between the lines.

You may not understand every reference he makes, because you wern’t in the camp. But you just might catch how much camp changed him. And how it will continue to change his life for years to come.

(I just spoke with Emmett a few days ago, he’s currently mostly off the internet, enjoying life and exploring possibilities with his sons. The Native Eyes Weekend is still giving him tons to explore and enjoy. )

Emmett’s original letters are below. Enjoy.

September 11 2006

I’m home now, and the ride back was way cool…

I normally have a lot, a LOT of activity in my head…thoughts, auditory and lots of pictures…

But on the way home from camp…not too much noticed… i know the things are there…but very calm. I don’t know why.

Played around with the questions of…the thoughts are not mine.

Hmmm. How difficult that bridge is to cross. And for some reason the thoughts are there, but they are not as loud as usually. Some kind of calmness.

JUMP!

Now about camp…wow.

Chunk: I learned to make fire from sticks. The biggest benefit?

Calibrations.

That’s it in a nutshell. CALIBRATIONS.

Using different parts to assemble the vehicle to get fire, using the right form…and calibrating the whole time.

So now i’m fired up for the world. Why? Assertions: i learned to calibrate a powerful force as fire…with those small chunks needed i can take that to calibrating people…and events.

And we learned about the Medicine Wheel…more calibrating and a great model for change…and to connect, and relating, and relationships, and noticing me.

And we learned to start tracking, deer, people and when we started to do this, other people in the camp site began to become curious. John contributed to us…through teaching. We contributed to the other camper with curiosity…and we got a story about Joe Nameth from someone from his home town…who just happened to see us looking at a piece of dirt for 15 min’s…noticing the small chunks of data and tracking.

And so my 5 hour drive home was great! A lot of activity up in the head, i think…but i didn’t notice. It was one of the quietest drives home.

The contributions of Twenty Twenty, John and Jess and Carol…wow.

The ripples. I took something back from everyone. John T. gave me some good thoughts and maybe a million dollar idea. Jess gave me some great ways to look at things…a different way.

And being around these guys for 3 days, i was able to begin to model their strategies…some very powerful strategies that were a blast to experience.

Well…

I could go on and on and on and on…

I’ll save some for later…but here’s one more…

So i get home and when daylight comes, i plan to build a fire…just to see and to show my son.

So i live in a city and not too many sticks around to build a bow, so i can build a fire. BUT, the city truck is going around cutting limbs off of trees and just so happens to be in front of my house trimming the tree.

So i ask if i can have a branch…and he says sure. But they get done without getting one that is just bent right.

So i go searching…and behind my garage is this little growth of some kind of tree…the kind that sprout of out nowhere, just a little one with several of the branches coming out of the ground from under the garage.

And the branches hang over an alley where cars go by…I get a knife and go cut it, because i found one of the branches to be just right for a bow. And the neighbor lady comes out.

And she says, are you cutting that? I say yes. And she brings here cutters over and helps me cut the branches off. She says she wanted to cut those down and she was thinking about sneaking over there and cutting them down, because when she drives down the alley the branches hit her car.

WOW…the gift from the universe…i am grateful to receive it and thankful. I had a little pocket knife cutting my branch that will nurture me and my son by making a bow to build fire. And here comes a pissed off, blaming lady that lends here help…she cut the branches for me…she WOULD NOT let me use the cutters my self.

And so the cutting contributed and nurtured her. She got what she wanted…in a peaceful way…and she may not know it…she contributed to me and my son.

Ripples.

And i would never have noticed this if not for The Native Eyes Weekend and the other camps and products i have been to and took from… (Twenty Twenty)

Wow.

From the east and looking with Vision, from the west and noticing the body.

From the South and trusting this list and touching everything and from the North standing and doing what i do even though my neighbors may think i’m different…

Wow,

Emmett

++++  Letter number two ++++

Sept 13 2006

How many cd’s can I buy…

How many books can i buy…

Being there in person, connecting with Twenty Twenty, Jess, John, Carol and myself. The energy.

Physically walking through the Medicine Wheel; balance and momentum.

Wow. Yes; buy the cd’s and dvd’s….and go to the back woods and quantum leap. Well worth the paper paid, contributed, passed on.

Wow, the energy.

The saying goes; a picture paints a thousands words…A vist to PA paints a thousands thoughts and insights.

Twenty Twenty taught a whole lot…about Scout, and about me.

I gained a very useful insight from Jess. We were talking about his products and how we have been using them. We touched upon the Essential Drills and The Insider. Using the body and aligning the back and hips for a more balanced approach.

I performed the drills on the dvd. Jess gave it more power.

Jess, i hope you don’t mind me sharing this, it helped me a great deal.

Jess, said that at work, before he answers a question, he would pause; and would align his body in balance.

Then he would answer.

He concluded that what came out is what the answer needed. No bull shit. The universe provided.

WOW. Using it at work. We used it in the woods at The Native Eyes Weekend. BUT at work? Neat. Work is like survival.

Some people check out and die slowly. I just got the insight that work is like the wild, like the woods. I need to stay in tune with the energy in order to survive. WOW.

So, my first day back at work i aligned my body whenever i noticed that i needed balance.

And the day was as perfect as one can have in manufacturing. I bet people noticed that i walked different.

And if they didn’t, who cares, the energy was there. Wonderful!!

Thanks Jess for the great insight for using the balancing at work…the wild.

Enjoy,
Emmett

++++ Letter number 3 ++++

September 14, 2006

I posted after The Native Eyes Weekend regarding my drive home from PA. The quietest ride that i had in a long time; no activity noticed in the head.

Normally (What is normal?) I would have a lot of visuals, picts flying one after another after another…and audio…

BUT on the way back from Camp, a nothingness…a kinda numbness (openness).

(The beautiful silence, the sacred space within!)

I know the ’stuff’ is there, but I can’t pin point it.

Today the same. This past few days, the same. THere are ‘thoughts’ up there, but I can not pin point what it is; visual? audio? kino? I don’t care anymore…it is what it is.

So i am enjoying the feeling of the numbness (openness) and it allows me to notice more around me.

Thanks to The Native Eyes Weekend, for giving me the opportunity to tune in to tune out and to notice the tracks…to track…to find the way.

in the woods…in life.

Enjoy,
‘Emmett

Hey mate,

Think about it. Take a moment. Relax. Breathe.

How many times have you wondered if there is something more? Something deeper, something you have been longing to connect with more completely.

We invite you to attend The Native Eyes Weekend in June or October this year with us!

The Native Eyes Weekend is a very special, heartfelt event up until this year, we have only hosted once per year, always around the time of my anniversary of being released from being a hostage.

The Native Eyes Weekend is that single event, where we explore together, the ancient wisdom traditions and skills that the Native American elders used to help me “come to my senses”.

“The Native Eyes Weekend is where you can learn and experience these life transforming ancient skills, as I learned them, in a very special way. The Native Eyes Weekend is where we share the ancient stories, the traditional skills, and the almost lost art of fellowship.”

The Native Eyes Weekend is about speeding up by slowing down, and exploring and expanding your personal transformation.

The Native Eyes Weekend is an invitation to become even more real. It’s a rare peek into how I went from being a suicidal ex cop, diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, to being a someone who is able to love and be loved. Someone who enjoys sharing and discovering what’s possible.

The Native Eyes Weekend is an opportunity to experience,

when you live life more fully, God Dances.

Come join the rank of the Apache Scouts. Explore even more deeply your divine spark, an fan it into a healthy strong flame. Immerse yourself more completely into the divine flow of abundance. Listen more to the spirit of the land, merge with the almost hidden hope of humanity, let your light shine more brightly, and awaken.

Early bird registration for The Native Eyes Weekend is going on now.

For the first time ever, we are hosting two Native Eyes Weekends this year. One in June and the other in October. The Native Eyes Weekend runs from from Friday evening, until Monday morning. Fly in Thursday, or early Friday. We’ll pick you up Thursday evening or Friday afternoon at PIT airport, and you’ll be our guest for the weekend. Fly home Monday afternoon after 2 PM in the afternoon.

If you want to drive here to the 7 person training in South Western Pennsylvania, let us know, we’ll give you directions now, and hugs when we see you.

If you want to go deeper, private training days are available the week before and after The Native Eyes Weekend. Email me for details or to register: 2020@exhostage.com
